British Airways Airline
British Airways, often shortened to BA, is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom and its largest airline based on fleet size, international flights and international destinations. When measured by passengers carried it is second-largest in Britain, behind easyJet. The airline is based in Waterside near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport.
The carrier now has its home base at Heathrow, and flies to more than 170 destinations in 70 countries.
British Airways employs just under 40,000 people, 15,000 cabin crew, 3,600 pilots and 5,500 engineers.
British Airways has a fleet of more than 280 aircraft, including the A380 and 787.
British Airways Concorde made just under 50,000 flights and flew more than 2.5m passengers supersonically.
The Airbus A380 is BA’s double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet manufactured by Airbus Industrie. It is the world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft. It’s also the greenest, BA claims.
The British Airways Heritage Collection has existed since the formation of British Airways. The collection comprises an extensive document archive, including 400 uniforms from the 1930s to the present day.
The airline carries more than 40 million customers a year and serves those customers 35 million cups of tea, 36.5 million meals and 3.7 million bottles of wine.
